Available for Hire

With the recent birth of my daughter I’ve been doing some serious thinking about my role as a freelance developer and what I want to accomplish with my clients. What I’ve come to realize is that the projects I enjoy the most are technology projects that help my clients build software businesses.

There is something attractive to me about using custom software to solve problems in a software business. Maybe it’s just me being meta, maybe it’s the amount of leverage software has, or maybe it’s just an environment that I thrive in.

To put some action to my thinking, I’ve decided to make a significant change to the services I offer through Little Stream Software. Specifically I will not be offering ChiliProject or Redmine development services anymore and will be offering Ruby on Rails and JavaScript development instead. (I’m also extremely interested in mobile web development but that’s something I’m still learning)

Obviously, in order for this to work I need some new clients. So…

I’m available for hire as of today. I’m still updating my services page but here is a summary of what projects I’m looking for.

  • First and foremost, I want to work with software companies who are trying to bring a commercial product to market. Think Lean Startup, not Facebook.
  • Small team, though I’m fine being the only developer.
  • Server side development using Ruby on Rails.
  • Client side development using JavaScript (framework or not).

I’m going to be updating my portfolio but since it was last updated in 2008, it is probably best to check my github account for current work. If you would like to see something specific, email me and I’ll be happy to share some code with you.

Thanks,

Eric Davis
